Urban Living Room Extensions

COBE Adds a Communal Meeting Space to the Red Cross Volunteer House

The Red Cross Volunteer House enjoys an architecturally interesting aesthetic that boasts a massive multi-functional staircase. The project was undertaken by local design studio COBE.

The silhouette of the new addition takes on the form of a triangular staircase. The firm strategically arranged this to add a bit of a flair to urban living. Since spaces, where the public can meet, are limited, especially in dynamic cities like Copenhagen, the studio focused on producing a design that would allow individuals to converge and communicate with each other. COBE identifies its design as providing the city with an "urban living room."

Thus, the Red Cross Volunteer House exudes both "generosity and modesty" while celebrating dedicated individuals who help marginalized communities by enabling, open-concept architecture and thus, opening up space for collaboration and socialization.
