Gamepad-Controlled Cars

Doritos Replaces a Steering Wheel with a Video Game Driving System

Snack brand Doritos brings video game driving to real life with its Gamepad Drive. A steering wheel is one thing that seems absolutely essential to have inside a car, but Doritos proves that it can be swapped out for something like a handheld gaming controller—and still work quite well.

In order to see how the car would run, Doritos pitted two gamers against a professional race car driver for a well-matched battle. The competitors then had to go on a course, picking up coins, pushing the speed limit and avoid hitting giant chips along the way.

Now that video gaming is becoming more immersive, stunts like this one offer a fun way to bridge the gap between the two realities.
