The very term "vegetarian butcher" may seem like somewhat of an oxymoron, but YamChops' founder Mike Abramson remarks that "A butcher is just someone who cuts and prepares food," and that is exactly what the new Toronto shop offers with its plant-based alternatives to meat.

YamChops is set up like a butcher shop with glass cases full of vegetarian and vegan burgers and sausages on display and there are a number of delicious lunch and dinner options available, including raw pad thai, grilled tofu and Korean BBQ that will have you forgetting that it's all meat-free. Although many people opt to go veggie out of concern for animals, Abramson who has been vegetarian for over 40 years stresses that YamChops is about sharing delicious alternatives to meat without forcing people to adopt a lifestyle change.
