The UpDog Vegan Hot Dog is Wrapped in an Algae-Based Coating & Cured

Upton's Naturals is venturing into the creation of vegan hot dogs with its all-new UpDog made from seitan, a wheat gluten. UpDog is seasoned with yellow mustard seed and onion powder and is cured after it has been encased in an algae-based coating. Each hot dog boasts 19 grams of protein and like traditional hot dog products that are perfect for outdoor grilling, they're sold in packages of four.

According to Upton's Naturals founder Dan Staackmann, "As popular as plant-based eating has become, the vegan hot dog category is still one that needed some help." Knowing that many people are looking for meatless alternatives that are just as satisfying to enjoy as the products they take inspiration from, Upton's Naturals intentionally created UpDog to help a wider range of people enjoy a favorite American food.
