This Vacation Home was Made with Seaweed Pillows

This unusual vacation home was built using seaweed pillows. Architecture studio Vandkunsten teamed up with a non-profit organization called Realdania Byg for the construction of this phenomenal cottage-style Dutch dwelling.

At first glance it may be hard to tell, but the outside of this fantastic vacation home is covered in seaweed pillows. When one looks closer, it becomes clear that this is not your average cottage getaway. These designers were faced with the task of building a modern vacation-style home using natural materials, so they chose seaweed, which washes ashore constantly and reproduces in the sea.

Seaweed is definitely a strange building material but it adds an interesting element to this cottage. It creates an interesting look outside of the cottage, which looks completely sleek and modern on the inside.
