Chinese biotech company Ehang has been working to develop useful delivery drones that would have the ability to fly pig organs to patients in need. By delivering organs to hospitals for transplant, the drones would fly to designated zones with no pilot.
Lung Biotechnology, a client and collaborator of Ehang, explains how this would be done by saying that it has "plans to station the MOTH rotorcrafts outside of its organ manufacturing facilities and use preprogrammed flight plans to hospitals and re-charging pads within the MOTH radius so that the manufactured organs can be delivered within their post-production window of viability."
Ehang's goal over the years is to create 1,000 flying drones that would be able to fly along designated paths and efficiently deliver medical necessities to help save lives. Although they are still a work in progress, the large useful flying drones would be perfect for transforming organs in heavily populated urban areas where travel paths are often blocked.
