Urban Shapes is a Modular Bench Inspired by Building Sites

Inspired by the materials in constructions sites, Urban Shapes is a modular bench created by Belgian design office nortstudio. The bench itself is made up of three colorful stools meant to resemble children's building blocks. Each of these blocks is reminiscent of objects found on building sites, ranging from industrial popes to structural beams. An expansive orange steel grille joins all the pieces and draws its inspiration from the grilles used on construction sites as a floor surface.

The blocks of the Urban Shapes feature a scored lattice pattern, allowing them to be joined by the steel grille. This design feature also lends a sense of modularity to the Urban Shapes bench as it can be arranged and held in place in numerous configurations.
