Unwoven Light by Soo Sunny Park Beautifully Refracts Light

Unwoven Light by Soo Sunny Park, an artist hailing from Seoul, Korea, and based in Hanover, New Hampshire, is a shimmering art installation made using a chain-link fence framework. Like her past pieces, including one titled Capturing Resonance, she embedded the fence with translucent sections of Plexiglas that give it a pearly surface as if it were the inside of a clam's mouth.

Currently on display at Rice Gallery in Houston, Texas, Unwoven Light by Soo Sunny Park takes on the form of an abstract wave. Reflecting nearly every light source in the space, it casts a fractalized rainbow of color against the walls in a mesmerizing way. Park says, "We don’t notice light when looking so much as we notice the things light allows us to see. Unwoven Light captures light and causes it to reveal itself, through colorful reflections and refractions on the installation’s surfaces and on the gallery floor and walls."
