Tomato-Tossing Robots

Tomato Producer Kagome Developed a Unique Robot That Feeds Runners

Because they come in such convenient packaging, bananas ans power bars tend to be snacks that are preferred by runners—but Kagome, a producer of tomato products sought to change this once and for all with a unique robot.

Knowing that tomatoes lack the same portability as a snack that comes in a wrapper, Kagome found that its biggest challenge would be to bring mobility to the tomato. To do this, a special robot was created to sit on top of a runner's shoulders and gently bring a tomato to the athlete's mouth. The Wearable Tomato robot will be on display at the Tokyo Marathon 2015. Although the idea is pretty silly, it's a hilarious way for the brand to increase recognition and poke fun at the current obsession with hi-tech wearables.
