Danish architectural practice Bjarke Ingels Group has revealed its preliminary renders and plans for the Two World Trade Center, the fourth and final skyscraper slated to be constructed on the World Trade Center side. As is to be expected for Bjarke Ingels Group, this design is incredibly striking and memorable.
The tower will feature seven separate volumes stacked on top of one another, with a design that is somewhat reminiscent of toy blocks placed nonchalantly on top of each other. This design causes the volumes to 'lean' towards the One World Trade Center. This audacious design isn't solely self-fulfilling however, as it ensures alignment so as to not ruin existing views to St. Paul's Chapel.
The tower's building block design isn't just beautiful, it's also a metaphor for what the new World Trade Center buildings represent.
