Sombra is the name of trompe l’oeil shelves, which give the illusion of long shadows cast against walls. Although the design is incredibly simple, the look is something else entirely. Nostalgic, romantic and relaxing, people will feel as though they are enjoying a sunny day in its presence. It's hard not to appreciate trompe l’oeil shelves that bring about that feeling.
Designed by Catarina Carreiras, the trompe l’oeil shelves is made out of black metal. This furthers the illusion, especially if set against a stark white wall. Although small and unobtrusive, people can easily rest their books and other knickknacks on these shelving units. They add functional surfaces around the home while also being subtly decorative.
