Arboreal Musical Installations

The Tree Concert is an Eco-Activist Art Project

In Montbijoupark, Berlin, the Tree Concert art installation is drawing in peoples’ eyes and ears. Green polymer membranes sit beneath a large chestnut tree. Sound and light is emitted every time a nut falls off the tree and hits a membrane. The falling nuts create an ambient musical atmosphere that remind one of the slow turning of the seasons.

The Tree Concert art installation was created in order to bring attention to the declining population of trees in Germany’s capital. The installation was created through a collaboration between Proximity BBDO Berlin and environmental organization BUND for Environment and Nature Conservation Germany. Donations can be made via text message to support the cause.

The temporary art installation will be on display until September 24, 2012.
