Minimalist Townhouse Renos

The Townhouse VI in Kortrijk, Belgium, is a renovated 1950s residence designed by Decancq Vercruysse architects as a calm urban home that responds to daily life patterns. The project rethinks the interior with a sequence of connected living spaces anchored around a new floor-to-ceiling glazed wall that links the living room directly to a green-walled patio garden. Oak wood panels line walls and ceilings to add material warmth, and bespoke elements such as a patinated stainless-steel fireplace and integrated storage support both comfort and order. The ground floor prioritises openness and connection to outdoors while accommodating practical needs such as dedicated storage for bicycles and a small shower area for a pet.

Upstairs, the kitchen and dining area open to a sunlit terrace, and finishes combine oak, stone countertops, and low-saturation colours to create a cohesive material palette throughout. Storage is integrated beneath surfaces to maintain uncluttered spaces, and warmer interior tones are chosen to foster intimacy and tranquillity.
