Sink-Inspired Public Restrooms

This Public Washroom is Part of the Tokyo Toilet Project

This public restroom has been created for the Tokyo Toilet project as the final installment that is designed with efficiency and style in mind to make it a welcomed addition to the Japanese capital landscape. The structure draws design inspiration from a sink and features an all-white aesthetic that includes a series of individual stalls positioned around some communal hand washing stations. The structure is located in downtown Tokyo near the Park Hyatt Tokyo Hotel and is perfect for travelers or commuters alike to freshen up in the urban landscape.

The final installment of the Tokyo Toilet project is the design work of Sou Fujimoto who commented on the structure saying, "One could say that public toilets are a watering place in the middle of a city, a spring that supplies the town. They are available to various people who will use it for different reasons in addition to using the toilet, and I wanted to propose a space for washing hands as a public watering place."
