Designer Xindong (Jonathan) Che created this tiny garden that is full of life and resides within an hourglass. This pocket-sized greenhouse is called 'Lives-Glass.'
The cleverly designed garden sits inside of an hourglass, which uses water instead of sand to maintain the life inside of it. Made entirely from glass, the tiny garden "irrigates itself through drip irrigation." Water is poured into the tank, which flows into the flowerpot. There is a hole located at the bottom to allow oxygen in, and thus creates a small urbanized greenhouse.
The design was inspired by the 2015 Paris Climate Conference. Che decided to create a fully functioning garden inside a glass container to prove that sustainability is possible. The hourglass is a clever way for the designer to stress the fact that time for sustainable thinking is running out.
