Tile Debuts 'Scan and Secure' Feature To Protect Users From Stalkers

Tile, an app dedicated to helping users track lost items, has announced the launch of 'Safe and Secure,' its first anti-stalking safety feature.

The new feature allows users to scan for unknown Tile-enabled devices that may be in their vicinity or traveling with them. Essentially, the feature searches for nearby Tile devices in case a stalker has placed one on a user. To make the feature more accessible, Tile has opened up 'Safe and Secure' to non-Tile users -- it is accessible to anyone using iOS or Android.

"If someone is a victim of domestic abuse and they are preparing to leave their partner, for example, it’s helpful to be able to choose the time and place that’s safest for them to proactively check if there is a device on them that could track their location," said Erica Olsen, director for the National Network to End Domestic Violence's Safety Net Project.
