Relationship-Based Architecture

The Three House was Driven by Family Structure

The Three House by Gerardo Ars was driven by one phrase from the clients: "the house is for our children," according to DesignBoom. As such the architecture firm built the place thinking about the relationships between the couple living here and their three kids.

To meet these needs the team ensured that each space was designated to specific functions. For example, the upstairs is for the children to sleep and play, making sure it's quite separate from the downstairs parts. The lower levels are for more communal activities, where the family comes together in the living room areas as well as the dining room. However, the ground floor also has sections for more private functions too such as the master bedroom for the parents, and a garage which is neither private nor public.
