The Smoking Room by Gianni Botsford Architects is a clever addition to the garden of a private residence in Zurich, Switzerland. The room contains a single red folding chair and offers one a chance to enjoy the scenery and partake in their favorite pastime without affecting anyone in the house with secondhand smoke.
The Smoking Room was commissioned by British landscape architect Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, who requested the pavilion be simplistic in order to allow the newly sculpted garden to live up to its full personality.
Gianni Botsford Architects used translucent concrete to create the structure, a decision described by the design team as a means of making the Smoking Room as alive as the garden that surrounded it.
