Selfridges Unveils the Joke Shop with a Slapstick Generator

London department retail space Selfridges opens the Joke Shop, which is a 'comedy store' which one can shop at. It sells products that are playful including sneezing powder and has a store window that displays slipping bananas and whoopee cushions. It is found on the store's ground level and is created by the retailer's in-house creative team. The team worked with five joke stores in the country to get the right ambiance.

Weir speaks about the design, stating "The Selfridges creative team traveled the country visiting local joke shops and found institutions that were rich in inspiration and personality. We used more found and vintage pieces than we might usually have in the space and as a result, a customer asked me 'what did you use for the smell? The impression of a genuine joke shop was so strong that customers felt we had scented the space, which we hadn't."
