The Gourmand 'The Bird’s Odyssey' Addresses Chicken-Egg Que

There is something slightly morbid about the food photography featured in the The Gourmand 'The Bird’s Odyssey' editorial. Seemingly addressing the egnigmatic question, 'What came first, the chicken or the egg?,' it focuses on everything from the bird itself to fried chicken legs and yellow egg yolks. At one point a nervous-looking bird is captured perched on the shoulder of Christopher Bastin, the creative director of Gant.

The Gourmand 'The Bird’s Odyssey' editorial was shot by photographer Gustav Almestål. It was created in collaboration with food stylist Niklas Hansen. Appearing in Issue 2 of the publication, the images are set against various backdrops, each of which manage to give the abstract still life scenes an ominous sense of life and death. Nevertheless, everything also looks delicious.
