Modern Transluscent Bookstores

The Glade Bookstore Boasts Translucent Glass Shelves

The Glade Bookstore features translucent glass throughout to create a blurred effect. Designed by HAS Design and Research, the bookshop is located in Chongqing's dense city center. It is designed to act as a spiritual and restful place amidst the busy city streets.

The Glade Bookstore is also a restaurant and an exhibition space. Drawing on the prominent Chinese artist Guanzhong Wu's ink painting titled The Mountain City of Chongqing, the bookstore blends metropolitan and countryside styles into one peaceful space. The books are displayed behind frosted glass panels, contrasting the store's glossy concrete floor. The architects on the project opted for organic materials and neutral colors to capture the spirit of Wu's city painting.
