'The confessional' is an art installation in which a solitary stool is situated in the center of of a roofless, but otherwise enclosed wax structure. Hong Kong-based design studio Daydreamers Design have installed this structure as a new addition to their ongoing project at 'Oi!,' an art gallery that sits inside of a protected historic building.
Wax was intentionally used to reference the candles found within churches, cathedrals, and chapels. The structure, made of off-white wax bricks creates a tranquil and intimate setting for people to relinquish their fears, and anxieties, providing "a space for people to unburden their thoughts and confess their true feelings." In what the design team is calling a "simplified cathedral," 'The Confessional' can be accessed through a curtained doorway and intersects personal emotions with public art.
