The Chicago Spire

World's tallest residential building

The Shelbourne Development Group has filed a finished design for the Chicago Spire; this 2,000-foot tall tower will become the tallest residential building in the world if approved. It will be built at the Chicago River next to the shores of Lake Michigan. They made quite a lot of enhancements to the original design that will improve the building's integration with the river and reduce traffic through the area.

Implications - The Chicago city planning department has just started to review the proposal for the very tall building that takes up three million square feet. Purely residential, the building will not have a hotel or retail space. The Chicago Spire is set to house 1,300 people and has 160 floors.
