Contemporary Floating Cheese Restaurants

Adam Richards Architects Completes The Cheese Bar

For lovers of dairy in London, The Cheese Bar is an excellent location where one can indulge in British artisanal cheeses, offered in an array of inventive dishes. Since recently, individuals will get the chance to enjoy this experience while on the water. Commissioned by British Land after winning a design competition, local studio Adam Richards Architects developed a new home for The Cheese Bar restaurant in a 20-meter-long boat with a rooftop deck.

For the design, Adam Richards Architects drew inspiration from the local heritage of the area (Paddington). Much of the design of the structure was informed by architect James Stirling's Venice bookshop. "There was something really nice about designing a boat that was based on a building that was based on a boat," the head architect playfully told influential architecture and design website Dezeen.
