The Melander Architects Design Maximizes Living Space

Finding a space for all your personal belongings in a house or apartment can often be a challenge, but designers Lynda and Peter Benoit of Melander Architects have designed 'The Box-Within-A- Box.' This adjustment converted a small loft apartment into spacious oasis.

Lynda and Peter Benoit of Melander Architects were given the assignment of remodeling a small California loft apartment. The apartment (located in a former steam engine factory) is 1,100 sq ft in size. The designers created a custom 16x17x10 ft box made of wood that accommodates a bedroom on the inside, a large bookshelf on the outside and a beautiful dressing room on top, complete with an office.

This is easily any loft owners dream situation, a place to put the bulk of your possessions while still leaving plenty of room for living. The photos speak for themselves on the true artistry of this apartment.
