Commemorative Subway Passes

The Taipei Metro Has Released a Year of the Monkey Pass

In order to celebrate the recent beginning of the Year of the Monkey, the Taipei Metro service has released a special edition subway pass that serves to commemorate the Chinese New Year event. In addition to Chinese New Year, the commemorative Taipei Metro pass also feted the 20th anniversary of the city's public transportation system.

The concepts were created by Kuocheng Liao and co-designed with the rest of the Midnight Design team. The One-Day Taipei Metro Pass features 20 Taiwan macaque monkeys searching for celestial peaches, a symbol of longevity, among various cityscapes.

As consumers move to view everyday occurrences as special occasions based on the inaccessibility of large-scale sporting and pop cultural events, organizations are changing their approach to ticketing design so that it reflects this new appreciation.
