The Tailored Stool is Dressed Up and Made Without a Mold

The production of the Tailored Stool involves a very different method to the furniture manufacturing norm. Instead of creating cushions or molds and then covering the padding with protective and comfortable material, these pieces are first dressed in stitched fabrics and then filled with foam afterwards.

Taking inspiration from fashion design, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay of the Raw Edges Design Studio developed chairs for people of all different shapes and sizes. Tall folks, short folks, fat ones and slim ones will all have a specific seat that is best suited to them. Each ottoman is topped by a slip cover with whimsical upturned ends and it is packed with soft insides. Like shirts or slacks, the Tailored Stools are filled and tried on for a good fit.
