Tennis star Maria Sharapova has launched Sugarpova, a new line of gummy candies. The Russian tennis star is famous as much for her off-court ad work as for her on-court tennis skills, appearing in commercials for Canon in recent years. Her decision to go into the candy business is a shocker of sorts as most athletes prefer to endorse foods and drinks that are somewhat healthy.
Sugarpova is not healthy in any way, but it sure looks tasty. The candy is sold online and through the candy company It’Sugar which has stores in 40 locations around the world. The tennis star’s candy dreams reportedly took 18 months to come to fruition. Hopefully, more athletes will follow Sharapova’s lead and launch atypical foods and beverages. Professional baseball player Coco Crisp would make some amazing cash if he created a cereal.
