London firm Stanton Williams designed the 'Fitzroy House,' a three-storey timber and stone residence intended to evoke "the spirit of a tree house." The home replaces the 1950s residence that formerly occupied the leafy plot in north London.
If you're an adult, chances are you've abandoned your once-vivid dream of living in a tree house. However, this design keeps the childhood ambition alive and well by capturing the true essence of a tree house.
The home was sunken into the sloping site, allowing the middle level to connect with the stone bridge that leads into the home. Floor-to-ceiling glazing surrounds the house, allowing natural light to permeate the interior. The glazing is bordered with grey timber paneling, Iroko wood balconies and wedges of limestone. However, the cool, texturized exterior gives way to a warm, rich interior, complete with oak ceilings and limestone floors.
