Japanese studio Nendo launches a steel furniture collection that has an incredibly delicate appearance. Bound to exquisitely refine interior design arrangements, the capsule consists of 18 pieces that are informed by the behavior of watercolor on paper.
From tables to chairs, Nendo thoroughly sands the surfaces in its steel furniture collection and strategically paints them in white. The intended effect is for the pieces to subtly mimic white paper. The studio then carefully applies gradients in blue by hand. Each application is made to tastefully emphasize the silhouette of the selected piece. Producing an unpredictable aesthetic, the markings are "designed to appear as if they have soaked naturally into the [surfaces]."
