Loveseat Shift Separates Slightly to Accommodate More Than One Sitter

For those couples who feel truly attached at the hip, this split stool is the perfect little perch. Based on a standard design for a circular wooden stool, this piece seems to have been sliced and separated along its diameter in order to better accommodate two bottoms. A pair of legs accompanies each to give the unusual chair its stability.

Margaux Keller designed the Loveseat Shift for producer Mäiza Éditions. The solid ashwood construction gives it great strength, and the fairly simple reworking of the round surface contributes effective functionality. Two people can sit side-by-side and quite close, without sacrificing half of his or her rear end off of the edge of the seat. This split stool is a smart use of space, catering to a couple without occupying a great area.
