Honeycomb Three Wheelers

The Spira4u Three-Wheeler is Undergoing Pilot Production

The Spira4u is an ultra-economical three-wheeler, being produced in China, that will comprise both electric and gas-powered versions. This car-scooter hybrid is expected to gain United States EPA emission testing approval shortly.

The electric Spira4u weighs 236 kg while the gas version weighs 200 kg. Both versions utilize a composite honeycomb chassis and a fiberglass body that incorporates recyclable lightweight foam body panels.

The gas-powered version of the vehicle costs only $5,000 and uses a fuel-injected, 150 cc Chinese Wangye motorcycle engine with automatic transmission, which allows it to attain a top speed of 85 km/h -- more than sufficient for urban cruising. The electric version costs $9,000 and can hit a top speed of 100 km/h. The electric version also has a reverse gear and a rear-facing camera, which are missing in the gas version.
