Van Leeuwan Created a Limited-Edition Ice Cream Inspired by Popeye

Some of the most popular kinds of green ice cream tend to be mint chip or matcha green tea flavors but to celebrate New York City's annual Fleet Week, Van Leeuwen created a limited-edition vegan spinach ice cream. Appropriately dubbed 'Popeye’s Fleet Treat,' the savory spinach ice cream pays tribute to the cartoon character's favorite iron-rich vegetable.

The ice cream is flavored with organic spinach ad is joined by a range of other unexpected ingredients like turmeric, sea salt and extra virgin olive oil, which subtly pays tribute to Popeye's wife, Olive Oyl. The base of the vegan ice cream is made with a creamy combination of raw cashew milk, coconut cream, raw organic coconut oil, pure cocoa butter and organic cane sugar for a hint of sweetness.

The green ice cream is now available for a limited time at select Van Leeuwen stores.
