Eric Chu, an engineering intern at Make, read an article about a low-cost spin-activated LED yo-yo add-on, but was disappointed to find that it would only work on a limited size range. Not to be deterred from his vision of spinning lighted yo-yos in the dark, Chu came up with a DIY spin-activated LED yo-yo plan.
The DIY yo-yo conversion project was published in MAKE magazine Volume 22 and YouTube has featured Eric Chu’s DIY spin-activated LED yo-yo as a MAKE weekend project video.
