Spanish studio Lucas y Hernández Gil overhauls this 20st-century site in Madrid and produces a spacious apartment layout that embraces soft minimalist industrialism. While surely old buildings have a certain romantic quality to them, their arrangement often doesn't satisfy the living requirements of contemporary times. 'Casa P82,' for example, had a complicated floor plan that actively worked against it. Lucas y Hernández Gil was given the task to modernize the flat, in order to make it agreeable to today's standards of living.
The local studio completely dominated the project, maintaining some of the interior's features but ultimately producing a brand new spacious apartment layout. As a result, the Madrid flat boasts more "flexible rooms" that are brightly lit and make use of moveable practitioners.
