Space Popular's Work Predicts the Future of Communication

Space Popular explored how virtual reality might be used to bring people closer together in the future by "allowing our homes to digitally merge with those of our loved ones." In its VR-powered installation 'The Venn Room,' the studio explored how the technology helps "shape new hybrid spaces [for individuals] to inhabit together."

Space Popular's installation revolves around a VR movie that draws the point across. The sequence depicts "what happens when two people wearing VR headsets occupy the same virtual space" and how their physical locations are combined, similarly to a Venn diagram.

However, given the current global circumstances and the directions for all to physically distance from one another, Lara Lesmes and Fredrik Hellberg—founders of Space Popular—have released a 2D version of their movie.
