Nike's Space Hippie Collection Works Towards a Circular Economy

Nike's new Space Hippie collection kicks off the sportswear brand's new era towards sustainable product production. Working towards a more circular economy, Nike tackles the issue of overconsumption by taking new angles of construction and design. There are four shoes that make up the collection in total and the craftsmanship is made up of over 50% of recycled materials.

It embodies the concept of creating just enough products, using scrap materials from other products to use as much material as possible and prevent the waste from going to landfills. The aesthetics are similar to Tom Sachs' work with Nike. The pack came into fruition from in-situ resource utilization and the space exploration practice of collecting and storing materials in space to replace those that would be carried from Earth.
