Eco-Friendly Private Island Resorts

Soneva Fushi is a Luxe Resort that Aims to Save the Maldives

Calling Soneva Fushi an eco-friendly resort would definitely be an understatement as the state-of-the-art luxury resort might just save the island it calls home. Located on an untouched private island in the Maldives, this eco-hotel aims to offer luxurious amenities all while minimizing its impact on the planet. This task is not an easy accomplishment, considering the Maldive's recent focus on tourism and mega-developments, but Soneva Fushi insists that eco-friendliness is in its DNA and it will continually strive to maintain ecological practices.

While many resorts damage and change the natural ecosystem, this eco-resort was built mindfully of the world around it. The buildings and architecture were built to fit among the trees, in fact, no trees were cut down at all. Soneva Fushi even built the first solar array on the Maldives. The resort currently 90% of its solid waste, with glass, food, jungle trimmings and polystyrene all processed on an onsite pyrolysis system.
