BRI/SO Smart Shutters Promise Privacy, Sunlight Obstruction and Electricity

A simple product that you can still buy at discount big box stores for $10 has been cranked up a notch with developments like solar-powered blinds. This system combines a couple different types of sunlight filtering, controllable with a smartphone app, but the designers did not stop there.

The BRÍ/SO 'brise soleils' by Mitch Livingston have secure tracks that install around the frame of your window, keeping all slats sliding in place and with regular spacing. In window blind mode, you can angle the fins up or down for bringing rays in, and in shutter mode, you can block out all of the light for maximum darkness and privacy.

You might now wonder why solar panels have been installed on the outside of these hi-tech window coverings. This renewable energy powers LEDs, the automatic adjustment of the slats, and even a handy USB charing port on the windowsill.
