Scannable QR Wrappers

Zego's Snack Wrappers Use Codes to Show Results of Batch Tests for Allergens

To give consumers an extra level of assurance on the safety of its allergy-friendly food products, superfood snack maker Zego is now rolling out snack wrappers with built-in QR codes that reveal important food safety information. Scanning these QR codes on the snack bar packaging reveals information on the individual batch tests for allergens and gluten, giving consumers with sensitivities more peace of mind when it comes to on-the-go snacking.

Rather than just placing the QR codes anywhere on the wrappers, Zego took care to integrate them seamlessly into the design of each snack wrapper package. On this design choice, Colleen Kavanagh, co-founder of Zego, says: "It was a metaphor for how the transparency is integrated into our company."
