Sloped Open Sideboards

The Ostberg Bench Features Tilted Surfaces and Elongated Storage Cubbies

A propped wooden plank could possibly do the job of this sloped open sideboard, but it wouldn't look a small fraction as good doing it. Designed by Sawdust Bureau, this original piece of contemporary furniture is an artistic interpretation of the spotted gum tree, inspired by the formation of the speckled branches.

The body of this storage system is composed of several timber frames that come together into a broad rectangular cubby at the base. Several more overlapping and resting eucalypt beams project from the top of the Østberg Bench, offering an angled surface with built-in bookends for the stable presentation of one's reading materials.

This sloped open sideboard is no less practical and a straight-edged unit. You may not be able to place a symmetrical vase on the slanted side, but you can get creative by filling the looped ledge with stacks of records or magazines.
