Although the Slo-Gen Table could be nothing other than a table, it has a sweeping sculptural aesthetic that could easily make people question this function. There appears to be a grander purpose to the Slo-Gen Table than being used as a surface for people to gather around. Yet perhaps that is grand enough. As the new reception desk for the lobby of Studio Gensler in Los Angeles, California, it does act as a great first impression.
Designed by Cal Poly in joint effort with a team of architectural students (Ben Hait-Campbell, Cory Walker and Kegan Charles Flanderka), the Slo-Gen Table is made out of a mix of wood and HI-MACS. Curvaceous with a grid-like pattern, the Slo-Gen Table looks like a mathematical representation of some sort.
