Sleeping Avian Topiaries

This Gigantic Sleepy Chick Garden Sculpture is Located in France

The Sleepy Chick is a massive garden sculpture of a sleeping baby bird located in Le Jardin des Plantes in France. This gigantic work of land art cleverly reshapes a green plant bush into resting bird.

The Sleepy Chick, known in France as the Poussin Endormi, is the work of writer and illustrator Claude Ponti that is known for turning living plants into works of art. This is Ponti's second topiary sculpture in which he renders one of the massive bushes in the garden into a resting bird. The sculpture features a peaceful looking chick with a protruding stomach, sprawled feet and yellow beak resting on his arms catching a few much needed minutes of rest. The personified avian bush is incredibly detailed with even something so simple as eyelashes added around the eyes.
