Trinket-Infused Skull Photography

Edwige Massart and Xavier Wynn Place Everyday Objects in Skulls

While one may not usually attribute playfulness to skulls, a husband and wife duo made a skull photography series that will make you do so. The playful and intricate series was created by Edwige Massart and Xavier Wynn to feature random toys, doodads, trinkets and everyday items. Aptly titled 'Heads,' the series is surreal and compartmentalizes the human head in a quirky way.

The artists infuse the holes within medical skulls with random junk drawer items; it's a comical approach to eliminating the gruesomeness and morbidness that is usually associated with a skull. The cross-sections of the human heads contain things like key chains, toy figurines, dried hot peppers and sea shells. Every item can spark a unique memory, which is ironic considering they are being put in place of where the brain once was.
