These Light-Up Shoes Can Be Controlled by an App on Your Phone

'No New Folks' is stepping up the dance/performance scene with its new light-up shoes called ‘Orphe.' Using over 100 LED lights in each sole, the shoes are specifically designed for stage performers.

Using smart technology, colors and patterns are interchangeable by using the corresponding phone app. The shoes also have built-in abilities to play music, which can be customized to the user's own tracks and beats.

New to the market, Orphe debuted at SXSW2015 Trade Show in Texas. The No New Folks current prototypes are white and black, making the shoe versatile and cohesive, no matter which light colors are being used.

While the project is still working towards putting these shoes on the market, the collaborative efforts between traditional shoemakers and engineers have achieved the desired design and proper functions to act as an interface, and as footwear.
