Nendo's Melt Collection for WondeGlass is Shaped by Gravity

The dining table, armchair, chaise longue, side table, partition and vase from Nendo's latest collection are all shaped by gravity. The striking line seeks to give the glass as a material control over the design process. The venture was inspired by founder Oki Sato's visit to the WonderGlass workshop. Impressed by the highly-skilled craftsmanship and techniques, he was motivated to find out what it would be like to have an entire collection that is shaped by gravity. Through the experiment, Sato sought out to "do less and achieve more," ultimately producing one-of-a-kind pieces.

The molten glass was typically poured into a square frame and after an appropriate cooling temperature was reached, it was transported to a mould where the material was left to set and be shaped by purely natural forces.
