'Shadows in the Window' Highlights Individualism in Urban Settings

'Shadows in the Windows' by Andrea Ponti of Ponti Design Studio features a set of sculptural chairs that sit within square frames. The designer behind this project was inspired by two staple elements of Hong Kong's urban landscape: a window and a chair. Often unnoticed in busy metropolitan areas, Ponti aimed to create a chair with a story to combat the impersonal nature of a city.

Citizens of Hong Kong unknowingly peer into thousands of windows a day, often forgetting that behind each window is a person with a story. Each one of Ponti's designs looks very similar, but each maintains its own distinct look. The aim of the project is to highlight the individuals that become anonymous in dense urban settings.
