Rural Playground Water Pumps

The 'Seesaw Well' Turns Water Sourcing into a Child's Pastime

Taking the design of the playground seesaw and turning it into a functional piece of equipment for rural communities, the 'Seesaw Well' is designed to offload the pumping action needed to draw water from a well to the children of the community. The conceptual design works by having a child sit on either side of the seesaw and play as they otherwise would in order to help pump water up into a given vessel. This would act as a way for children to play and help parents or community members with the daily chores without actually feeling as though they're doing work.

The 'Seesaw Well' is the design work of XueFei Liu and is the winner of the iF Design Talent Award.
