The Sebastian Errazuriz 'Occupy Chairs' Collection is a politically driven art installation that combines protest signage with a place to take a load off.
Playing off the slogans of the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement, each chair in the series features a different anti-capitalism, '1%-bashing' message scribbled in black acrylic paint. The lettering is large and messy, similar to that of a protest sign, and dictates messages such as "Hungry? Eat a Banker," "Kill Corporate Greed" and "Too Big to Fail is Too Big to Allow."
The Chilean-born artist developed the series with the hope that wealthy collectors would purchase the chairs and, by doing so, the messages of the 99% would be seen in the homes of the 1%.
The Sebastian Errazuriz 'Occupy Chairs' collection debuted at the Cristina Grajales Gallery booth at the Armory Show in Manhattan last weekend in another attempt to address the social class gap and draw more attention to the various 'Occupy' movements across the world.
