Scott Kyson's 'Treehouse' Uses Glass to Blend into Its Surroundings

British architect Scott Kyson designed a garden pavilion for his children that uses smoked glass walls to blend into its environment. Called 'Treehouse,' the unit's reflective walls mirror the surrounding trees and shrubbery, making it difficult to distinguish from its environs until one gets close enough to notice the incongruities.

The interior of Treehouse is covered in charred timber that gives it a mysterious black appearance. The layout of the structure is like a simple maze, with a slight bit of twisting and turning that adds a sense of adventure for Scott Kyson's young children, who are between the ages of four and eight.

Treehouse uses a demountable construction. This means that it can be moved from place to place around the garden -- or even beyond. Scott Kyson recently moved the structure to London's Shoreditch as part of his firm's 10th anniversary.
